I don't have 52 cookbooks but I'm willing to be a taste tester for anyone who is taking up this challenge. The Shaking Beef and salad recipe looks yummy.

Btw, I just started to read Christmas at Fountains Hall and am enjoying it very much!

You don't want to know how many cookbooks I have. I don't want to know how many cookbooks I have! The Shaking Beef was a real winner. I'm glad you're enjoying Fountains Hall...

This sounds like such a fun challenge!! I don't have 52 cookbooks but I have been ruthless about whittling them down through the years. We just made and photographed our dishes from Nigella's Christmas book this week.

I got rid of about 80 (I said that really quickly) when we moved up here but have since replaced those. I hate to think how many I have. Looking forward to seeing what you cooked from Nigella's Christmas.

That is an ambitious challenge, but I imagine it will be a tasty one! I look forward to hearing about it too.

It should be fun! I'm still thinking about which book to use this week...

I made 3 things from Lagom last week, the soup which I put my version up on Substack, the meatballs and the lemon loaf….which is definitely a keeper. Will be watching closely for any other books I own. Nigella at Christmas…is hidden away in my kindle so will fish that out. So love that you are sharing this.

I have my eye on making both of these. You should have seen my husband's face when I mentioned the lemon and parsnip loaf "I don't know how I feel about that darlin'"...

The loaf is definitely a keeper. Couldn’t taste the parsnip. Something about it that was very moreish. Left off the icing, sliced it and put it in the freezer for our afternoon snacks. Could picture myself toasting it and using some jam. But trying to eat healthy snacks (so I also reduced the sugar a bit).

Jo I love this challenge and am looking forward to following your cookbook creations. I hope Santa takes the hint from that list.

I'm certainly putting the energy out there! (And have given the list to my daughter to pass along...) Grant refuses to buy me cookbooks.

Was it 'Mormor's fish soup'? I have made that a few times.

It was. And very good it was too. That curry oil was the difference.

Some of my best friends are cookies!! OMG - that is so me. I don't think I ever met a cookie I could resist. And if one tastes good then 5 taste even better. This seems like such an interesting challenge but alas I don't own that many books. I do tend to search out new recipes in the books I do have. I am hoping to get a sourdough one for Christmas as I have started making sourdough bread and truthfully don't really get what I am supposed to be doing! I hope Santa comes thru for you and I have faith it will happen! Bernie

How great is that title? (And, between you and me... I bought that book last night when I was at the bookshop selling my books...)
