Hi Jo, ahhhh I love Anzac biscuits! You most definitely should be proud of having written 14 nearly 15 books and most of them while working, parenting, houseworking, dog mumming, wifeing, etc. You are amazing! Your Mum's pumpkins look incredible btw! Thanks for linking up with #WWWhimsy - have a great week! xo
i made hazelnut Anzac biscuits for the Anzac Day service. I used an English recipe which I was surprised to see in an English cookbook esp. as they added hazelnuts. We all know it is actually illegal to change the recipe and can land you in prison! I was surprised her publisher hadn't cottoned on to that :=) Anyway it's a great recipe! Toasting the nuts and oats before baking the biscuits is the way to go. Hope you are having a great Anzac Day. cheers Sherry https://sherryspickings.blogspot.com/
When I was a child, my father was growing something on a vine. He promised us watermelon come summer. We waited and waited but watermelon never appeared. Instead, the fall brought pumpkins. When you are a kid pumpkin pie is ok but watermelon....
I envy those people with green thumbs; I know very little about plants and am not usually all that successful at keeping them alive. Congrats on starting book #15! That is quite an accomplishment. My boys and I made an Americanized version of ANZAC biscuits when we were studying our Australia unit (golden syrup isn't available where we live so we substituted maple syrup).
Oh my gosh, those dumplings look so good. I miss our dumpling dates! Your mum's pumpkins are epic, I wish my fingers were that green - all I grow is weeds! Congratulations on 15 books - that really is an incredible achievement especially as you were working throughout. And I made some Anzac biscuits yesterday - they came out flat and chewy but were very delish. I had to share them with all the neighbours because they were too tempting to have in the house!
I am so going to try these Anzac biscuits once I get some coconut (not a usual ingredient found in my house). I also loved that gardening quote! I feel like that about some plants for sure. I so recall the border crossing from NSW into Victoria (back in 1983) when he asked if we had any fruit or veggies in our boot. I was wearing sandals and just couldn't figure out why he thought I would have boots with veggies in them! Then he confiscated the stuff in our cooler (that would be your eskie) and sadly we lost our supper meal! Also learnt what a boot was... LOL.
Oh Jo that plant quote made me snort - I pinned it and sent it to my DIL (who mocks my lack of gardening mojo). And congrats on all those books (and the effort that went into each of them) I don't have a single idea for a novel, so I'm always gobsmacked by those who have so many plots floating around in their heads - and the words to put them into the world. Go you!
Hi Jo, I prefer the chewier Anzac biscuits although I don't make them these days. I used to live at Baulkham Hills so know where the Castle Hill library is. Well done with your writing and I'm so pleased you can concentrate on your passion full time now. x
I made these today and they're great! Thanks Jo.Congrats on your writing, you are such a star!
